Terms of Service

Effective: May 3, 2026
Draft · Under legal review. Final wording may change before public launch.

Welcome to WIINE. These Terms govern your use of the WIINE iOS application and the wiine.co website (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it. "We," "us," and "WIINE" refer to the team behind WIINE.

1. Eligibility

WIINE is a wine companion app intended for adults who are of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. The App Store rating is 17+. By using WIINE you confirm that you meet that requirement and that nothing in your local law prevents you from using a tool that catalogues alcoholic beverages.

2. The license we grant you

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the WIINE app on iOS devices you own or control, subject to the App Store's Standard End User License Agreement and these Terms. You don't get any rights to the WIINE brand, source code, or design.

3. Your content

Notes you write, photos you keep, ratings you enter, and any other content you create in WIINE belong to you. We don't claim a license to it because we don't host it. It lives on your device. You're responsible for what you put into the app.

4. AI-assisted scanning

WIINE uses an AI provider to read wine labels and suggest fields like producer, vintage, region, grape, and average price. AI is helpful but imperfect. Treat all AI-suggested values as starting points, not facts. In particular:

5. Subscriptions and trial

WIINE offers a free trial followed by an auto-renewing subscription (currently $3.99 / month, subject to change). Billing is handled by Apple through your Apple ID:

If you cancel, your saved data stays on your device. Scanning, AI suggestions, and other paid features pause; existing fridge entries and memories remain readable and editable.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

7. Disclaimers

WIINE is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We disclaim all warranties to the fullest extent permitted by law, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any AI output will be accurate.

WIINE is not a source of medical, dietary, financial, investment, or professional advice. Wine is alcohol; consume responsibly and consistent with local law.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, WIINE and its makers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

You can stop using WIINE at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that creates risk for us or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will continue to apply.

10. Changes to the Service or Terms

We may update WIINE and these Terms over time. If we make material changes to the Terms, we'll update the effective date and surface a notice in the app or on this site. Your continued use after a change indicates your acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the WIINE team is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Specific jurisdiction and venue will be determined and disclosed before public launch. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable consumer rights you may have under your local law.
